How to Get to the Estadio Vélez Sarsfield (José Amalfitani) and Back After a Show

VÉLEZ SARSFIELD · STADIUM TRANSPORT · 2026

Vélez stands about a kilometre from a train station, but the last train back towards the centre leaves Liniers at 23:11, every night of the week.

The last song ends, the lights come up over Vélez and a whole stadium heads for the same station and the same two avenues. At Buenos Aires Transfers we drive visitors around the city, and this is what we tell our own passengers about a night at Vélez: every official way there, how each one looks at the end of the night, and how to settle the ride home before you leave the hotel.

The Estadio José Amalfitani is the home ground of Vélez Sarsfield, on Avenida Juan B. Justo in Liniers, in the west of the city, about 17.5 kilometres by road from the Obelisco. The ticketer and the City's traffic notices call it Estadio Vélez Sarsfield, or simply Vélez: it is the same place. Getting there is simple. Coming back is the hard part.

Which concerts are coming to Vélez?

These are the shows that AllAccess, the ticketer, lists at the stadium as of October 2026. We update the list as dates are added.

DateShowTime listed by AllAccess
Thursday 12 November 2026Q' Lokura, La República del Cuarteto8pm
Saturday 14 November 2026Romeo Santos & Prince Royce, Mejor Tarde Que Nunca Tour9pm
Friday 18 December 2026Dante Gebel, Superclásico de la Juventud9pm

Go by the time on your own ticket. Two of these dates are weekdays, so the ride there shares the road with the evening rush, and whatever the day, the last train back leaves Liniers at 23:11. Both are below.

How do you get to Vélez?

By train, on the Sarmiento line

Trains on the Sarmiento line leave from Once station and reach Liniers in about half an hour. Liniers is the station the City suggests for events at the stadium, and from there Vélez is about a kilometre on foot. Villa Luro, the stop before it, is about 2 kilometres away.

By bus

For a concert in September 2026, the City's traffic notice suggested thirteen bus lines along Avenida Rivadavia and four along Avenida Juan B. Justo (the 34, 106, 166 and 172), and noted that the Juan B. Justo Metrobús was not affected by the closures. The City's notice lists every line.

Not by subte

No subte line reaches Liniers. The nearest station, San Pedrito, at the end of Line A, is about 5 kilometres from the stadium, so on public transport the Sarmiento is the direct way.

Why is getting back the hard part?

The streets around the stadium close from 1pm to 4am

The pattern repeats show after show. For a concert on a Saturday in September 2026, the City of Buenos Aires closed the streets around the stadium (Reservistas Argentinos, Fragueiro, Barragán, Álvarez Jonte and Francisco de Viedma) from 1pm until 4am the next day, and shut the Perito Moreno motorway ramps at Barragán. For Airbag's four concerts in May 2026, on two Saturdays and two Sundays, the City closed the same streets, again from 1pm to 4am. The City publishes the closures in the days before each event.

Avenida Juan B. Justo and Avenida Rivadavia stayed open in both directions, but no taxi or app ride reaches the gate. Whoever collects you waits outside the closed streets, and you walk out to them with the whole crowd opening the same apps at once.

The last train leaves Liniers at 23:11

On the Sarmiento timetable in force since 9 March 2026, the last train towards Once leaves Liniers at 23:11, on weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays alike, and reaches Once at 23:40. For a 9pm show, do not count on it, and check Trenes Argentinos in case extra trains are announced for your date.

There is no subte to fall back on either: the nearest station is about 5 kilometres away.

How does a private driver solve the return?

1. A pick-up point outside the closures, agreed in advance. We agree with you where the driver will wait, outside the closed streets, so you leave the stadium knowing where you are walking to.

2. One vehicle for the whole group. Our vehicles range from a comfort car for two to a minibus for 20; for bigger groups, ask us.

3. A price per vehicle, agreed before you go. Not per person, and with no night surcharge: the same at any hour.

4. One ride there and one back, if you know your times. The driver collects you at your hotel and drops you at the agreed point, and for the way back meets you there at the time we agree: USD 30 a ride in a car for two and USD 95 in a van for six, so USD 60 or USD 190 there and back. If you are not sure when you will come out, the driver by the hour suits you better.

5. A driver at your disposal for the night. The driver collects you at your hotel, drops you near the stadium, waits and drives you back, and you pay by the hour: USD 25 an hour in a car for two, USD 45 in a van for six and USD 70 in a minibus for 20, with a three-hour minimum. A five-hour evening, hotel to stadium and back, comes to USD 125, USD 225 or USD 350. More on how it works in our guide to hiring a driver by the hour.

Write to us on WhatsApp with your date, your group and where you are staying, and we will confirm the option and the price for your vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is the Estadio Vélez Sarsfield from the city centre?

About 17.5 kilometres by road from the Obelisco, most of it on the 25 de Mayo and Perito Moreno motorways. The stadium is in Liniers, in the west of the city of Buenos Aires.

Is the Estadio José Amalfitani the same as the Vélez stadium?

Yes. José Amalfitani is the name the club uses for its stadium; AllAccess, the ticketer, and the City's traffic notices call it Estadio Vélez Sarsfield, or simply Vélez.

Can I take the train or the subte back after a concert at Vélez?

The train, only if you are out in time: the last Sarmiento train towards Once leaves Liniers at 23:11 every day of the week, and the station is about a kilometre on foot from the stadium. The subte does not reach Liniers; the nearest station is about 5 kilometres away.

How much is a ride from my hotel to the Vélez stadium?

From anywhere in the city of Buenos Aires, USD 30 a ride in a car for two and USD 95 in a van for six, for the whole vehicle. If you want the driver to wait for you through the show, it goes by the hour: USD 25 an hour in a car and USD 45 in a van, with a three-hour minimum.

Is there a night surcharge for a late pick-up?

Not with us. The price is set per vehicle, agreed before the trip, and it is the same at any hour. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before.

I am flying in on the day of the show. Can you collect me at the airport?

Yes. From Ezeiza to your hotel in the city it is USD 50 in a car for two and USD 135 in a van for six; from Aeroparque, USD 35 and USD 95; from the Buquebus or Colonia Express ferry terminal, USD 35 and USD 95. Book the airport transfer, and message us about the show night separately.

Settle the ride home before the first song

A night at Vélez ends the same way for everyone: lights up, gates open and a ring of closed streets between the stadium and the nearest car. The difference is whether the way home was decided calmly at the hotel or in the crowd on Juan B. Justo. Decide it early, then enjoy the show.
